Exchange Press Article

A Letter to educators

In this article for Exchange Press, I address the raw realities of the ongoing childcare crisis and its impact on educators. It’s a call to acknowledge the challenges, honor the work being done, and remember that despite the obstacles, the role of early childhood educators is more essential than ever. This piece is for those who are navigating this crisis, offering both a reflection on the burden and a reaffirmation of the power educators hold in shaping the future.

The Early Childhood Educator Article

The Cost of Control

In 'The Cost of Control,' published in the Winter edition of The Early Childhood Educator, I explore how the desire for order and compliance in early learning spaces often comes at the expense of children’s autonomy, curiosity, and joy. This piece invites educators to reflect on how control-based practices—though often well-intentioned—can hinder true connection, liberation, and meaningful learning. It’s a call to reimagine our roles not as managers of behavior, but as co-conspirators in wonder.

A Message to My Fellow Educators

It's time to get loud about the things that serve our early learners. If you don't know how to do that yet, walk with me, I'll show you the way.

Let Them Be Children

Getting toddlers school ready does not center the child. We know as educators that the best way to empower a ensure a child is ready for school is to first ensure that they master the age that they currently are. So we're going to slow down and move at the pace of childhood.

A Hard Truth

I've got good news and bad news.

  • Bad News: Change is difficult. It requires the ability to stand in discomfort when facing hard truths.
  • Good News: You will be a better educator because of it.
