About KIsa Marx

Over 20 years in Early Education

Kisa has worked in services of early learners in Public and Charter Schools, Summer Camps, Enrichment Programs, and Daycare Centers before founding her own Play & Nature Based Childcare Community.

Transformative Work

Brick by brick, she did the work of dismantling the mindset and environment that enclosed her between rigid schedules, lesson plans, and school readiness and oppressed the children under the weight of excessive rules, restricted autonomy and unreasonable expectations. When she got to the other side she found a whole new way of educating, that included decentering everything we've "always" done, and placing the child in the center of the learning experience.

A New Mission

Armed with purpose, experience, and expertise, Kisa aims to reach her principal audience: the people that teach the people, and has been intentional in curating an array of services to help Educators decenter adults in learning spaces and return the central focus of meeting the child's physical, emotional, and cognitive needs.

A Message to My Fellow Educators

It's time to get loud about the things that serve our early learners. If you don't know how to do that yet, walk with me, I'll show you the way.

Let Them Be Children

Getting toddlers school ready does not center the child. We know as educators that the best way to empower a ensure a child is ready for school is to first ensure that they master the age that they currently are. So we're going to slow down and move at the pace of childhood.

A Hard Truth

I've got good news and bad news.

  • Bad News: Change is difficult. It requires the ability to stand in discomfort when facing hard truths.
  • Good News: You will be a better educator because of it.

Rethinking weapon play in early childhood

My friend and fellow Childhood Advocate Samuel Broaden and I received our contracts to write a book that will take a close look at the myths, the fears, and the benefits of leaving room for children to learn through this play rooted in the exploration of power. It's sure to be an eye opener!
